Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
Ren is a personal health assistant accessed through WhatsApp. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it. Plain language only.
What we collect
- Your phone number — to send and receive messages with you on WhatsApp.
- The content of your messages — text, photos, voice notes you send to Ren. We use these to log meals, answer your questions, and remember relevant context.
- Profile details you share — name, time zone, goals (calorie / protein targets), meal times. You provide these in the conversation or on the settings page.
- Meal logs — what you ate plus the macros Ren looked up. Stored either in our sqlite store, or — if you connect your own Notion workspace — in your Notion (your data, your workspace).
- Nudges you set — reminders and scheduled check-ins.
- Optional: Apple Health data — if you set up the iOS Shortcut, weight / workouts / sleep flow into Ren so it can coach you with the full picture.
- Operational data — timestamps, message counts, and error logs so we can keep the service running. We do not sell this data.
What we do NOT collect
- Your WhatsApp contacts.
- Your location (unless you explicitly share it).
- Photos from your camera roll that you didn't send to Ren.
How we use it
- To respond to your messages with accurate, grounded answers.
- To remember preferences and patterns across conversations.
- To send the scheduled check-ins you set up.
- To improve the service (e.g. spot bugs in our agent's behaviour). We never train models on your data and never share it with third parties for marketing.
Third parties we send your data to
- Meta / WhatsApp Cloud API (message delivery) — carries your messages to and from Ren over WhatsApp, using Ren's own dedicated WhatsApp Business number. Subject to WhatsApp's privacy policy.
- Anthropic — the language model that processes your messages to compose replies. Anthropic's commercial data terms apply (no training on your data).
- FatSecret — for nutrition lookups. We send food names you mention; not your identity.
- Tavily — for web searches when a food isn't in the database. Same scope.
- OpenAI — Whisper transcription if you send a voice note, and the text embeddings that power Ren's memory search.
- Groq — runs part of the model pipeline that processes your messages, under its no-training API terms.
- Notion (optional) — only if you explicitly connect your workspace. Your meal logs land in your Notion DB and we access only the page you authorize.
- Railway, Vercel — our infrastructure providers (servers and the landing site you're reading now).
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your Ren account is active. You can delete everything at any time — see below.
Deleting your data
Two ways:
- Message "delete my data" to Ren on WhatsApp. We will confirm and wipe everything within 24 hours.
- Email hadamuhammad@gmail.com from the email associated with your account.
Full instructions: data deletion guide.
Children
Ren is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we will send a message via Ren on WhatsApp before the change takes effect.
